Support Services & Facilities

The primary goal of our support services is to ensure the well-being of the postgraduate students and to maintain the high standard of studies that the Department offers. The School of Sciences library is an ideal environment for studying and offers a variety of printed and electronic resources. In addition, the Careers Office is the link between the Department and the jobs marketplace, enabling students to carry out internships and graduates to find work in companies that are affiliated with the Department. Finally, the Office of Student Affairs deals with students’ everyday issues and concerns, and assists them in finding effective solutions.

Discounts apply to tickets for means of public transport (buses, trains, ferries) which students use to travel inside the country, according to relevant legislation. Discounts do not apply during a student’s army service, if the studies are suspended, if the student graduates, if the beneficiary loses their student status or if the student completes six (6) years of studies.

Student Association

The Student Association is the body that supports any activities pertaining to sports, leisure, art or academic interests. Such activities are organized by the Student Societies, which are independent student communities; any undergraduate or postgraduate student can join them or form their own Student Society. At the time of writing, there are the following Student Societies on campus:

Sports and Exercise

The department of Sports and Physical Education gives students the opportunity to engage in a range of activities, according to their interests and preferences. One of its goals is also to represent the university, through its teams, during panhellenic university events, at the university’s annual Culture Week or in European/international university competitions.

Students can join track and field programmes, as well as cycling, tennis, volleyball and basketball teams. There are also dance, chess and taekwondo teams. Team sports classes are held 2-3 times a week at the public indoor gym and at the Karlovasi public stadium. Individual sports classes are held at University buildings or private facilities. Occasionally, the Department’s students have taken part in swimming, trail running and ski contests. There are also many students who take part in local sports events.
